Miami Open: Putintseva edges past lucky loser Minnen to make last 16

Kazakh Yulia Putintseva edged out Belgian lucky loser Greet Minnen 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Putintseva, ranked No 68, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 32 seed, and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, next.
The Kazakh edged out Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) and beat Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 13 seed (6-1, 4-6, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous round of the Miami tournament, Minnen, ranked No 79, won against Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (7-5, 6-1).
