Midland Open: Fett makes semi-finals after Townsend withdraws
Jana Fett benefitted from the forfeit of Taylor Townsend on Friday evening and will play the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and No 7 seed Emina Bektas in the next round

Croat Jana Fett moved into the semi-finals of the Midland Open after American Taylor Townsend, the No 4 seed, withdrew before the match on Friday evening at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
Fett, ranked No 198, will face the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and No 7 seed Emina Bektas next.
The Croat won against Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono (7-5, 6-0) and Canadian Rebecca Marino (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Midland tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Townsend, ranked No 66, beat Cypriot Raluka Serban (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtsewa (6-1, 3-6, 6-2).
