Midland Open: Fett reaches final

Croat Jana Fett edged out American Emma Navarro, the top seed, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to move into the final of the Midland Open at the Greater Midland Tennis Center on Saturday evening.

Fett, ranked No 198, will face the winner of the match between American Alycia Parks, the No 3 seed, and Russian Anna Kalinskaya next.

Ahead of her victory, the Croat won against Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono (7-5, 6-0), Canadian Rebecca Marino (5-7, 6-3, 6-2) and American Taylor Townsend, the No 4 seed (W/O).

Navarro, ranked No 42, beat lucky loser Chloe Beck (6-2, 6-3), qualifier Robin Anderson (6-2, 6-1) and No 7 seed Emina Bektas (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Midland tournament.
