Russian Anna Kalinskaya moved into the last four of the Midland Open by edging out American Hailey Baptiste 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (5) at the Greater Midland Tennis Center on Friday evening.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 115, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Katherine Sebov and American Alycia Parks, the No 3 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Russian beat Heather Watson (6-4, 6-4) and Tatiana Prozorova (6-3, 7-5).
Baptiste, ranked No 136, won against qualifier Victoria Hu (7-5, 7-5) and second seed Peyton Stearns (6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Midland tournament.
