Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 6 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open by beating Pole Magda Linette 7-6 (6), 6-7 (1), 6-1 at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 13, will face the winner of the match between wildcard Emma Raducanu and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the second seed, next.
The Brazilian won against Chinese wildcard Xiyu Wang (6-2, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Abu Dhabi tournament.
In the first round of the Abu Dhabi tournament, Linette, ranked No 55, won against Filipino wildcard Alexandra Eala (7-6 (4), 6-1).
