Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 8 seed, moved into the last 4 of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open by winning against No 4 seed Barbora Krejcikova 7-5, 6-4 at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City on Friday.
Samsonova, ranked No 15, will face the winner of the match between Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the top seed, and Spanish lucky loser Cristina Bucsa next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian defeated Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-0, 6-1) and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-1, 6-3).
Krejcikova, ranked No 12, benefited from the abandonment of Spanish lucky loser Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 1-0) in the previous round of the Abu Dhabi tournament.
