No 3 seed Coco Gauff beat qualifier Hailey Baptiste 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Mubadala Citi DC Open on Wednesday night.
Gauff, ranked No 7, will face Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 6 seed, next.
Baptiste, ranked No 204, won against Karolina Pliskova (6-1, 0-6, 6-3) in the previous round.
