MundoTenis Open: Fossa Huergo books spot in quarter-finals

Italian Nicole Fossa Huergo reached the last eight of the MundoTenis Open by beating Greek Despina Papamichail 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 on Thursday evening.

Fossa Huergo, ranked No 272, will face Swiss qualifier Ylena In-Albon next.

Ahead of her victory, the Italian won against Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 4 seed (6-3, 7-5).

Papamichail, ranked No 284, won against Argentinian wildcard Martina Capurro Taborda (6-3, 4-6, 6-0) in the previous round.
