Strakhova, ranked No 268, will play Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean, the No 8 seed, next.
The Ukrainian won against Romanian Miriam Bulgaru (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Alves, ranked No 314, beat Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 3 seed (7-5, 6-4).
