Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens beat Russian lucky loser Julia Avdeeva 7-5, 6-0 to reach the last eight of the Oeiras Ladies Open on Thursday.
Lamens, ranked No 163, will face Belarusian Aliona Falei next.
In the previous round, the Dutchwoman won against Colombian Emiliana Arango (7-5, 6-2).
Avdeeva, ranked No 208, edged out Filipino Alexandra Eala (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round.
