French wildcard Kristina Mladenovic defeated Briton Fran Jones 6-4, 7-6 (6) to reach the quarter-finals of the Oeiras Ladies Open on Thursday.
Mladenovic, ranked No 252, will play the winner of the match between American lucky loser Varvara Lepchenko and Austrian Sinja Kraus next.
The Frenchwoman won against Canadian lucky loser Katherine Sebov (6-4, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Jones, ranked No 276, beat Spaniard Rebeka Masarova, the second seed (7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-1).
