Italian wildcard Matilde Paoletti reached the semi-finals of the Open delle Puglie by winning against Dutch qualifier Eva Vedder 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Friday.

Ahead of her victory, the Italian beat Frenchwoman Harmony Tan, the No 7 seed (6-2, 6-0) and Argentinian qualifier Paula Ormaechea (6-4, 6-4).
Vedder, ranked No 287, won against Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-2) and Montenegrin Danka Kovinic, the second seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
