World No 1 Iga Swiatek beat American qualifier Caty McNally 6-4, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open at the Ostravar Aréna on Friday afternoon.
The top-seeded Pole will face the winner of the match between Czech wildcard Tereza Martincova and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
In the previous round, the 21-year-old Pole benefited from the abandonment of Australian qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic (7-5, 2-2).
McNally, ranked No 151, won against Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova (6-1, 6-2) and Czech wildcard Karolina Muchova (6-1, 3-6, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
