Czech Karolina Pliskova reached the quarter-finals of the Porsche Grand Prix by edging out Croat Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5) at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart on Thursday.
Pliskova, ranked No 17, will face the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Chinese Qinwen Zheng next.
The Czech defeated Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Stuttgart Open, Vekic, ranked No 23, won against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova (7-6 (7), 7-6 (5)).
