Porsche Grand Prix: Potapova beats Gauff in straight sets, books spot in last eight

Russian Anastasia Potapova won against American Coco Gauff, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 6-3 to move into the last 8 of the Porsche Grand Prix at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart on Thursday.

Potapova, ranked No 24, will face the winner of the match between German wildcard Tatjana Maria and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Stuttgart Open, the 22-year-old Russian edged out Croat qualifier Petra Martic (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4)).

Gauff, ranked No 6, edged out Russian Veronika Kudermetova (6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Stuttgart Open.
