American lucky loser Mccartney Kessler advanced to the last 16 of the Puerto Vallarta Open by defeating Serb Natalija Stevanovic 6-3, 6-1 on Tuesday.
Kessler, ranked No 153, will play No 6 seed Claire Liu next.
