Qatar Open: Haddad Maia moves into quarter-finals

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia won against Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 7-6 (7) to move into the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday evening.

Haddad Maia, ranked No 12, will face American Jessica Pegula, the second seed, next.

The Brazilian defeated Spaniard Paula Badosa (7-6 (6), 6-3) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Doha Open, Kasatkina, ranked No 8, won against Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino (7-6 (5), 6-2).
