Qatar Open: Rybakina reaches last eight

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 5 seed, beat Slovak Rebecca Sramkova 7-6 (1), 6-2 to advance to the last eight of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Wednesday.
Rybakina, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between Linda Noskova and Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, next.
The Kazakh won against American Peyton Stearns (6-2, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Qatar tournament, Sramkova, ranked No 46, won against Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-2, 6-3) and edged out Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 12 seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-5).
