German lucky loser Laura Siegemund reached the third round of the Italian Open by beating Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6-2, 6-2 at the Foro Italico in Rome on Thursday evening, for the last match of the night session. Siegemund, ranked No 101, had taken the place of Karolina Muchova, injured. She will play Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 17 seed, next. Bronzetti, ranked No 58, won against Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Rome tournament.
