Rouen Open: Cristian reaches semi-finals, defeats top seed Minnen

Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 7 seed, advanced to the last four of the Rouen Open by winning against Belgian Greet Minnen, the top seed, 6-4, 6-3 at Palais des sports de Rouen on Friday evening.

Cristian, ranked No 100, will face Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the No 9 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Romanian beat Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (7-6 (5), 6-1) and Swiss Celine Naef (6-4, 4-6, 6-3).

Minnen, ranked No 62, defeated Yuriko Miyazaki (6-4, 6-4) and Swiss Simona Waltert (6-2, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Rouen tournament.
