Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse won against French lucky loser Jessika Ponchet 6-2, 6-2 to move into the semi-finals of the Rouen Open at the Kindarena on Friday.
Ruse, ranked No 90, will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the top seed, and Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro next.
The Romanian edged out French wildcard Elsa Jacquemot (1-6, 6-1, 6-4) and defeated Italian qualifier Camilla Rosatello (6-0, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Ponchet, ranked No 146, won against qualifier Margaux Rouvroy (6-2, 6-4) and qualifier Fiona Ferro (7-6 (4), 6-4).
