Rouen Open: Stephens reaches quarter-finals

American Sloane Stephens, the No 6 seed, reached the last eight of the Rouen Open by defeating Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-2 at the Kindarena on Wednesday evening.
Stephens, ranked No 39, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva and Chinese Yue Yuan, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against Peyton Stearns (1-6, 6-1, 6-3).
Pliskova, ranked No 47, edged out Russian qualifier Polina Kudermetova (7-5, 1-6, 7-5) in the previous round of the Rouen tournament.
