Ekaterina Alexandrova stormed past top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka for her maiden grass court title on Sunday at the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

The 30th-ranked Russian claimed five of eight break points and won 17 of 22 second-serve return points as she breezed to victory, winning the final nine games of the contest on the trot.

Sabalenka, bidding for her 11th career WTA title, had the upper hand early. She lead by a break at 4-2, but saw the lead slip away as the 27-year-old leveled at 4-all and pounced late in the set, winning 12 of the final 15 points to take the final three games.

Alexandrova lost the first set of her week to Dayana Yastremska, but rebounded and won the final ten sets she played to claim her second WTA title, and first since 2020 (Shenzhen). Alexandrova claimed her ninth career top-10 win.

Sabalenka drops to 10-3 lifetime in WTA finals with the loss.
