Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 3 seed, won against Chinese lucky loser Yue Yuan 6-0, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the’s-Hertogenbosch Open at Autotron Rosmalen on Friday afternoon.
Mertens, ranked No 25, will face second seed Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
The Belgian beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-4, 6-0) and Greek Maria Sakkari (6-3, 6-0) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Rosmalen tournament, Yuan, ranked No 84, defeated Latvian Anastasija Sevastova (6-3, 6-3) and Australian Kimberly Birrell (6-4, 6-3).
