Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 8 seed, beat Linda Noskova 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the second round of the Strasbourg Open at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Sunday.
Samsonova, ranked No 21, will play the winner of the match between French wildcard Diane Parry and Canadian Leylah Fernandez next.
