Stuttgart Open: Paolini through to quarter-finals

Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 5 seed, defeated German wildcard Jule Niemeier 6-1, 7-5 to move into the last eight of the Stuttgart Open at the Porsche-Arena on Thursday.
Paolini, ranked No 6, will play the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, and German lucky loser Ella Seidel next.
The Italian won against German wildcard Eva Lys (6-2, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament, Niemeier, ranked No 121, edged out wildcard Laura Siegemund (4-6, 6-3, 6-4).
