Swiatek storms into third round in Rome

Three-time champion Iga Swiatek looked more like her usual self at the Italian Open on Thursday as she crushed home hope Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-1, 6-0 to reach the third round at the Foro Italico.
The Pole has struggled for top form of late and is still chasing her first title since winning her fourth Roland-Garros crown last summer but was at ease from the start as she stormed to victory over the Italian wildcard.
Swiatek, ranked No 2, will play the winner of the match between American Danielle Collins, the No 29 seed, and Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse next.
In the previous round of the Rome tournament, Cocciaretto, ranked No 82, won against Armenian Elina Avanesyan (6-2, 4-6, 6-1).
