Russian Diana Shnaider moved into the last 8 of the Thailand Open when Spaniard Paula Badosa retired at the True Arena Hua Hin.
Shnaider, ranked No 108, led 6-2, 3-4 when Badosa, ranked No 83, pulled out at the True Arena Hua Hin on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old Russian will face Hungarian qualifier Dalma Galfi next.
Diana Shnaider beat Pole Magda Linette, the top seed (6-4, 1-6, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Hua Hin tournament, the Spaniard won against Thai wildcard Lanlana Tararudee (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
