Thoreau Open: Scott reaches semi-finals

Qualifier Katrina Scott moved into the semi-finals of the Thoreau Open by edging out wildcard Taylor Townsend 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Friday evening.
Scott, ranked No 241, will face second seed Bernarda Pera next.
Katrina Scott defeated Japanese lucky loser Moyuka Uchijima (6-1, 6-1) and Czech Karolina Muchova (6-3, 4-0 ret.) in the previous rounds of the Concord Open.
Earlier in the tournament, Townsend, ranked No 246, won against Swiss wildcard Lulu Sun (6-3, 6-0) and edged out Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure (6-1, 4-6, 6-4).
