Thoreau Open: Townsend moves into quarter-finals

American wildcard Taylor Townsend moved into the quarter-finals of the Thoreau Open by edging out Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Wednesday evening.
Townsend, ranked No 246, will play the winner of the match between American qualifier Katrina Scott and Czech Karolina Muchova next.
In the previous round of the Concord Open, the American defeated Swiss wildcard Lulu Sun (6-3, 6-0).
Bonaventure, ranked No 152, won against Russian Varvara Gracheva, the No 3 seed (6-2, 7-5) in the previous round of the Concord Open.
