Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet defeated Russian Anastasia Zakharova 6-3, 6-3 to move into the last eight of the Trophée Clarins on Thursday.
Paquet, ranked No 138, will play the winner of the match between American Amanda Anisimova, the top seed, and Croat Petra Martic next.
In the previous round, the Frenchwoman won against Australian Kimberly Birrell, the No 6 seed (7-5, 3-6, 6-3).
Zakharova, ranked No 110, won against French qualifier Fiona Ferro (6-2, 6-2) in the previous round.
