Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, moved into the semi-finals of the Vancouver Open by winning against Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 7-5, 6-1 at Hollyburn Country Club on Friday evening.
Bronzetti, ranked No 66, will play Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the Italian defeated qualifier Yuriko Miyazaki (6-2, 6-2) and Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon (6-2, 6-3).
Kasintseva, ranked No 165, beat Japanese Misaki Doi, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-2) and edged out Jodie Burrage (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (7)) earlier in the tournament.
