Vancouver Open: Grammatikopoulou wins the tournament

Valentini Grammatikopoulou won the title on Sunday evening against Lucia Bronzetti.

Greek qualifier Valentini Grammatikopoulou lifted the Vancouver Open trophy by beating Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the second seed, 6-2, 6-4 at Hollyburn Country Club on Sunday evening.

Grammatikopoulou, ranked No 239, defeated Australian Astra Sharma (6-2, 6-2), Canadian wildcard Cadence Brace (7-5, 6-2), Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (6-3, 6-4) and American Emma Navarro (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) in the previous rounds.

Earlier in the tournament, Bronzetti, ranked No 66, defeated qualifier Yuriko Miyazaki (6-2, 6-2), Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon (6-2, 6-3), Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (7-5, 6-1) and Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 5 seed (6-2, 6-2).
