Washington Open: Raducanu books spot in quarter-finals
Emma Raducanu won against Peyton Stearns 7-6 (6), 6-2 on Wednesday evening and will play the winner of the match between Spanish wildcard Paula Badosa and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 3 seed, in the next round

Wildcard Emma Raducanu moved into the last 8 of the Washington Open by defeating American Peyton Stearns 7-6 (6), 6-2 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.
Raducanu, ranked No 89, will face the winner of the match between Spanish wildcard Paula Badosa and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 3 seed, next.
Emma Raducanu edged out Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 8 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round of the Washington tournament, Stearns, ranked No 51, won against wildcard Clervie Ngounoue (6-3, 7-6 (3)).
