Russian qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova upset Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 5 seed, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the second round of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Monday.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 60, will play the winner of the match between qualifier Katerina Siniakova and wildcard Karolina Pliskova next.
