No prizes for guessing who the big mover is in this week’s WTA rankings.

Barbora Krejcikova‘s stunning win in Dubai, where she beat the world’s top three players in Jessica Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka and then, in the final, Iga Swiatek, means she climbs 14 places to No 16 in the latest WTA rankings, which will be confirmed on Monday.

The 2021 French Open champion and former world No 2 slid down the rankings in 2022 due to a wrist injury and a loss of confidence but she showed she’s back to her very best in Dubai.

“Definitely last year was really tough, especially for being out for so long. I really couldn’t find my game till the end of the season. Then the end of the season I got injured,” she said.

“I’m really happy that I’m here right now with this trophy and that I can celebrate it tonight. I mean, I hope I’m going to get soon where I belong.”

Gauff closes gap on top five, Swiatek still miles clear

Coco Gauff continues to improve, too, the American reaching the semi-finals in Dubai and playing a good match against world No 1 Swiatek.

The teenager remains sixth but is closer to the top five, now less than 600 points away from Caroline Garcia.

Swiatek remains top by a distance, despite her loss to Krejcikova in the final. The Pole is now 4,485 points ahead of Australian Open champion Sabalenka.
