Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric defeated Spaniard Aliona Bolsova, the second seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the last eight of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana on Wednesday.
Ciric Bagaric, ranked No 290, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 5 seed, and Greek Sapfo Sakellaridi next.
Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old Croat won against Austrian Sinja Kraus (7-6 (4), 6-3).
Bolsova, ranked No 112, beat Slovenian Nina Potocnik (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round.
