Zeynep Sonmez upset Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 4 seed, 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Zavarovalnica Sava Ljubljana on Saturday afternoon.
Sonmez, ranked No 177, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Miriam Bulgaru and Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 5 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Zeynep Sonmez defeated qualifier Oleksandra Oliynykova (6-3, 6-4), Croat Antonia Ruzic (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Pole Katarzyna Kawa (6-1, 6-4).
Zidansek, ranked No 87, won against qualifier Michaela Bayerlova (6-0, 6-1), wildcard Pia Lovric (6-0, 6-0) and Russian Erika Andreeva, the No 8 seed (6-4, 5-7, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
