Zhengzhou Open: Qualifier Zvonareva upsets Kudermetova in first round

Qualifier Vera Zvonareva upset No 9 seed Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 7-6 (5) to move into the second round of the Zhengzhou Open at Zhongyuan Tennis Training Base Management Center on Tuesday night.
Zvonareva, a former world No 2 now ranked No 369, will play Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina next.
Kudermetova won the title in Tokyo earlier this month, beating Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula in the process.
