Jan-Lennard Struff levelled up Germany’s Davis Cup quarter-final against Great Britain, beating Cameron Norrie 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-2.
That means the tie will go down to the doubles later on Tuesday following Dan Evans’ victory over Peter Gojowczyk in the first singles match of the day.
The 31-year-old combined clever footwork with big hitting to pull off the win, winning the last four games of the decisive set. He served ten aces and took four of his seven break point chances, winning 71 per cent of his first serves along the way.
“I’m very happy with the way I played today. It was a very tough match, Cam Norrie is a very tough competitor,” said Struff afterwards. “I managed to get some energy from the bench and my team pushed me so much.”
