Federer Training
Roger Federer is on his way back to fitness – according to a video he posted on Instagram.
In it, the 20-time Grand Slam champion is shown going through a series of tennis drills – stepping in and out of a ladder on the floor, moving around cones, and practising his swing.
Federer – who turns 41 this summer – had already said he would be missing at least the first half of the season, including his beloved Wimbledon, where he has won eight titles.
He had suggested he was eyeing a return in the latter half of the year, and potentially a spot at the US Open.
The Swiss star has struggled greatly with fitness in recent years, and underwent what he described as “restorative surgery” on his knee last year.
He is now ranked outside the top 40 in the world, his lowest ebb since the year 2000 when he made his breakthrough as an 18-year-old.
