Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 4 seed, advanced to the last four of the Palermo Open by winning against Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 7 seed, 6-2, 6-3 at A.S.D. Country Time Club in Palerme on Friday afternoon.
Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 41, will play the winner of the match between Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 6 seed, and Frenchwoman Diane Parry next.
In the previous rounds, the Spaniard defeated Romanian Ana Bogdan (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) and French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean (6-0, 6-2). Bondar, ranked No 50, beat Frenchwoman Clara Burel (6-4, 6-4) and Panna Udvardy (6-2, 6-4).
