Lucia Bronzetti won against Jasmine Paolini 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Palermo Open at A.S.D. Country Time Club in Palerme on Saturday evening.
Bronzetti, ranked No 78, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 4 seed, and Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 6 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Lucia Bronzetti defeated Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-3, 6-3), Russian qualifier Elina Avanesyan (6-1, 6-3) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed (3-6, 7-5, 6-3).
Paolini, ranked No 61, beat Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-3, 6-1), Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 3 seed (W/O) and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the No 8 seed (6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
