Nick Kyrgios‘ fans were disappointed not to see him take to the court at the ATP Atlanta Open for his singles match on Tuesday evening as the Australian had to pull out due to left knee issues.

But as he told the fans while apologizing for his late withdrawal, he did take the court on Wednesday evening with countryman Thanasi Kokkinakis for their doubles quarter-final.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis, the reigning Australian Open champions entertained the fans and scored a 6-4, 7-6(3) victory over Gonzalo Escobar and Hunter Reese to move into the semi-finals.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis will meet the winner of the all-American quarter-final between Steve Johnson/ Tommy Paul and Rajeev Ram/ Jack Sock, which will take place on Thursday.

Kokkinakis is also out of the singles draw, going down to American wild card Anders Martin in straight sets in the first round on Tuesday evening.

With the latest win, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis have improved to 12-2 for the season.
