Iasi Open: Bogdan reaches final

Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 3 seed, defeated Russian qualifier Darya Astakhova 7-6 (5), 6-4 to reach the final of the Iasi Open at Baza Sportivă Ciric in Iasi on Saturday.
Bogdan, ranked No 75, will play the winner of the match between Pole Maja Chwalinska and Hungarian Panna Udvardy, the second seed, next.
That was the hardest match of the week for Bogdan on her home soil, even if she still didn’t lose a set. The Romanian won against wildcard Oana Georgeta Simion (6-0, 6-2), Russian Anastasia Zakharova (6-1, 6-2) and Georgian Ekaterine Gorgodze, the No 8 seed (6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Astakhova, ranked No 256, beat Romanian Irina Bara, the No 7 seed (6-3, 6-3), Romanian qualifier Cristina Dinu (6-2, 6-2) and Argentinian Paula Ormaechea (6-4, 6-0).
