Frenchwoman Diane Parry edged out German Tatjana Maria 6-4, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (4) to advance to the semi-finals of the Les Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby on Thursday evening.
Parry, ranked No 81, will play the winner of the match between Russian Daria Kasatkina, the top seed, and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the No 5 seed, next.
The 19-year-old Frenchwoman is having a solid season on tour. She reached the third round at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, and also played the quarter-finals on the Palermo clay in July.
Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old defeated Swiss qualifier Lulu Sun (6-4, 6-2) and Czech Tereza Martincova, the No 8 seed (6-3, 7-6 (1)).
Maria, ranked No 92, won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (7-5, 6-1) and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
