Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the No 5 seed, won against French qualifier Jessika Ponchet 7-6 (4), 6-3 to reach the last 8 of the Rouen Open at Kindarena on Thursday afternoon.
Golubic, ranked No 90, will face Spaniard Cristina Bucsa next.
The Swiss beat Russian lucky loser Erika Andreeva (7-6 (3), 7-5) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Ponchet, ranked No 167, defeated wildcard Alice Robbe (6-1, 6-2).
