WTA Hobart International: Davis sets up final against Cocciaretto

American qualifier Lauren Davis moved into the final of the WTA Hobart International by winning against Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova 6-3, 6-3 at the Domain Tennis Centre on Friday.
Davis, ranked No 84, will face Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto for the title on Saturday. This is the American’s first WTA final since 2017.
Ahead of her win today, the American had beaten No 4 seed Sloane Stephens (6-2, 6-2), Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure (7-6 (1), 6-3) and Chinese lucky loser Xinyu Wang (6-3, 6-3) to make it to the semis.
Blinkova, ranked No 72, had scored wins over Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-4, 6-3), Czech Marie Bouzkova, the top seed (7-5, 6-4) and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the week.
