Eighth seed Belinda Bencic, of Switzerland, advanced to the final of the WTA Adelaide International after Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 6 seed, withdrew before the match at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Friday night.

Bencic, ranked No 13, will play Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 5 seed, next. The Russian had also received a walkover into the final when her opponent, Paula Badosa, pulled out prior to their match.

Earlier in the week, the Swiss had defeated Spanish wildcard Garbine Muguruza (6-3, 6-4), Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaya (6-3, 6-3) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 4 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-4).

Kudermetova, ranked No 9, defeated Belarusian wildcard Victoria Azarenka (2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4), Ekaterina Alexandrova (via a walkover) and American Danielle Collins, the No 10 seed (4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1) to reach the semi-final.
