Wildcard Andy Murray edged out Italian Lorenzo Sonego 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Monday evening.
Murray saved three match points in the third set. The Scot, ranked No 70, will face No 4 seed Alexander Zverev next.
